What is an API?
An API acts as a digital bridge that allows different systems to communicate and share EDI data in a standardized way. Instead of transferring information via EDI files, an API can be used to verify, send, and receive the information in real-time, for example in checkouts and order systems.
Who can use the APIs?
Any PostNord customer or integration partner can sign up for a customer- or partner API account on developer.postnord.com
But keep in mind that you will need your own developers to build an integration to PostNord. We have a team on hand to help answer questions, but you'll need to do the development in-house or with an agency.
What does it cost to use the APIs?
As a customer, you'll typically only pay for the shipping. Our APIs are currently free up to a certain limit - set high. In normal use for a single large organization, you're unlikely to incur any costs for the API calls unless you have misconfigured your integration.
For integrations partners offering integrations to multiple organizations, you're more likely to hit the limit for free API calls, but we offer very reasonable rates even for large call volumes.
What is a TA system?
A shipping system, also called a TA system, is necessary for you to book your shipments and create address labels. A shipping system automatically ensures that an electronic transport order (EDI) is sent to PostNord with information about the shipment's recipient and how it should be delivered.
PostNord TA-system Skicka Direkt Business is available for contract customers and can be used to book shipments, print shipping documents, and track shipments.
What's the difference between Portal Integration and Standalone integration?
Portal integrations connect to our shipping tool in PostNord Portal Business and enable both manual and automated shipping bookings in the Portal as well as in external platforms.
In standalone integrations all configuration and shipping ordering is done in the connected e-commerce system. You set the shipping options for your checkout in your e-commerce platform and manage your incoming shipments manually or automatically in an external platform.
